ASOS Foundation
ASOS.com is one of our major clients and also an amazing supporter of our work. ASOS have committed to raising £10,000 from sales of the ASOS Africa collection towards SOKO’s new workshop. The ASOS Foundation will then match this with another £10,000. Please support us and ASOS’s commitment to us by purchasing something from the ASOS Africa range.
Joffe Charitable Trust
Joffe Charitable Trust donated £10,000 towards the set up of SOKO whilst the project was still in concept phase. We are really grateful for the risk that this Trust took to support the vision of SOKO.
Sint-Jozefsinstituut, Belgium
Sint-Jozefsinstituut a school in Brugge, Belgium chose SOKO as their school fundraising project in 2010. The students and staff held fundraising events throughout the school year in order to raise money for SOKO’s new building. In May 2011 Joanna Maiden SOKO’s founder made a visit to the school and was handed a cheque for £2,800. We are grateful for all the hard work and continued support we receive from the school.
Ukunda Youth Polytechnic
SOKO works closely with the Ukunda Polytechnic, a community owned and run institution that offers a wide range of training at an affordable price to local people. SOKO’s workshop is based within the Polytechnic grounds.
SOKO supports the polytechnic through;
- Donated equipment, advice and guidance on the development of their training and opening doors for funding assistance.
- Apprenticeships programmes and employment for tailoring graduates.
- Sponsorship to orphaned students by paying a monthly donation towards their fee.
Wildlife Works
Wildlife Works provide SOKO’s tailors with further training in industrial sewing machines. Wildlife Works have also offered SOKO a vast amount of assistance and support.
