Support Us
SOKO is committed to investing in the local community.
SOKO’s vision is to improve the quality of life for the local population. Profits raised and invested into the community through SOKO’s business are unfortunately never enough. We are currently fundraising for the following projects and would be grateful for any donation that you are able to make.
SOKO Training
We currently train local people with little or no formal education in the skills needed to make beautiful clothing to international standards. Due to lack of funds we have been unable to invest in this area but we do currently run an informal ‘Saturday Sewing Club’ run by one of our experienced tailors. We require funds to employ a trainer, develop a detailed training manual and provide each student with the materials and machinery required for one month’s training. The costs are as follows:
A class of students including machinery £1700
A class of students no machinery £200
One student including a sewing machine £340
One student no sewing machine £40
We would welcome any sponsors who might contribute to, or indeed pay for all of this project.
SOKO’s New Workshop

Our 24 employees and up to 30 beaders are currently based in a muddle of old classrooms and tents. We have designed a new eco workshop and are raising the funds in order to see this vision come to reality. The workshop will include a production area, training area, kitchen for tea and lunch and creche. SOKO’s growth is currently held back by lack of space and with a new building we would be in a position to employ more staff and therefore have a larger impact on the local community. With our new building we will be in a position to more than double our influence on the local community.
We need approximately £50,000 for this building and have already confirmed commitment from one donor of £20,000. Please don’t be overwhelmed by this figure any donation adds to the pot! Could you, your family, or your business help us with a donation or fundraising for the project? For all donations above £500 we invite you to become a patron of SOKO and will include your name on the wall of the completed workshop.
